Essential Estrogens™ (G) measures urinary levels of oestradiol, oestrone and oestriol alongside key oestrogen metabolites including 2-hydroxyestrone, 4-hydroxyestrone, 16 alpha-hydroxyestrone and related methoxy metabolites from a first-morning urine sample.
This test may be clinically useful in contexts including perimenopause, menopause, premenstrual syndrome, fibroids, endometrial hyperplasia, breast cancer risk assessment or hormone replacement therapy review. By assessing both parent oestrogens and downstream metabolites, it provides insight into oestrogen metabolism pathways rather than absolute hormone levels alone.
Results are interpreted alongside life stage, menstrual history, medication use and related laboratory findings. Reviewing parent oestrogens and metabolite ratios together enables practitioners to contextualise oestrogen metabolism patterns and discuss findings appropriately with clients.
