The Cardiovascular Risk Profile is a serum-based blood test that evaluates a broad range of traditional and advanced cardiovascular biomarkers. These include standard lipids such as total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides, alongside advanced markers such as oxidised LDL, small dense LDL, lipoprotein(a), apolipoproteins A-1 and B, homocysteine, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein and lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2. Together, these markers provide a detailed overview of lipid transport, particle characteristics and inflammatory activity relevant to cardiovascular risk
This profile may be clinically useful when practitioners want a more detailed assessment than standard cholesterol testing alone. Advanced lipid and inflammatory markers offer additional insight into lipoprotein behaviour, oxidative processes and vascular inflammation that may not be reflected by total or LDL cholesterol values in isolation.
Practitioners typically interpret results alongside clinical history, family history, lifestyle factors, medication use and other laboratory findings. Patterns are reviewed in context to support informed discussions with clients around cardiovascular health and risk management.
